Stila Stay All Day Vinyl Lip Gloss

08 Poppy (bottom)
02 Melon

In my never ending quest to find a long lasting lippie, this came across my radar. I reviewed, researched and swatched to my hearts content. Stila has made a lippie that actually lasts on me for about 4 hours and fades evenly leaving a pretty color behind that lasts at a 4 hour more mark. It goes on quite thick and sticky and takes about 30 minutes to dry down but the lasting power was impressive to me. There is a negligent fragrance and taste and doesn't bother me at all. The colors are spectacular!

First up is the orangish red Poppy that looks so good on the lips and just makes me smile. I love a bright pop of color, especially in the summer and it has a tendency to make my teeth look whiter (BONUS!). Then there is the Melon which is juicy and bright and pinkish in undertone with a coral tendency. This is one that I will wear in the daytime for work.

You literally have to use makeup remover to get it off as the swatches on my hand were seriously staying! Easy to carry in my pocket, a nice doe foot applicator and some serious lasting color, what more could you ask for? Seriously, I didn't need another lippie but had to get my mitts on these as the reviews stated that these last really well. I am totally impressed and love the colors.

You can purchase these at Sephora and Ulta and let me tell you the Poppy and Melon colors sold out fast, so grab yours soon beauties. I am glad I grabbed then when I did :). Smile and love the pop of color for summertime tans and heat! Have a great one and thanks for stopping by the blog! Sherry

Now Solutions Hyaluronic Acid Creme

Recently I was browsing in a herb store and came across this tube. Hyaluronic acid is very necessary, especially for older skin as it holds in the moisture to make the skin plumper. I know that any product that helps to plump up my skin and hold in moisture is going to be a part of my skincare routine. This cream is thick and takes a few minutes to skin in but after using this in place of regular nightly moisturizer, I could tell a difference in how my skin looked and felt. I had never heard of this brand and did some internet research and was surprised and pleased to know that their products are not tested on animals and are well known for purity and all around really good products. They have several products for mature skin, including serums, eye creams and products that the ingredient list shows great vitamins and minerals and herbs. Not all their products are for mature skin, they have a variety of great all around all age products as well.

Check this line out, especially of you like natural and paraben free products. It looks like Puritan's Pride is the main company that carries their products. Have you heard of this line? Do you use their products? Do tell! Sherry

Bare Minerals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder

Bare Minerals has made a huge splash in the cosmetic industry and for some women the mineral foundation and other products work very well for their sensitive and picky skin. I love the products that they have even of the foundation doesn't work for my dry skin. What does work is the mineral veil. It is sheer, works wonders for my t-zone and doesn't get cakey at all!

Now you know ladies that duo product tower that flanks the line to the register at Ulta calls to us, you know it! It has multiple products in travel and small sizes that you know you just HAVE to have for your purse HA! I was just minding my own business and happened to notice this sitting there oh so prettily. I picked it up and just wanted to read what it was all about and it literally JUMPED into my basket, *sigh. However, I have to say it is a pretty nifty item to have in your purse. It doesn't leak, it dusts the perfect amount of mineral veil on my face and doesn't take up too much room in my bag. As you can see by the picture, it opens by sliding to the side and once you pull the pink tabs out of the middle of the brush you are able to use the mineral veil easily and quickly. Genius I tell ya!

With the humid and hot summer upon Texas, this little compact has gotten a lot of use already. I foresee that it will be empty by summers end. I love that Bare Minerals is natural and fragrance free and doesn't cake on my face. The color is pretty neutral and doesn't change my makeup look which is a huge plus. Bsre Minerals you have done it again and I am sure grateful for this little round compact of loveliness. Have you tried this ladies? Do you have products that jump into your basket while minding your own business in the line to checkout?

Would love to hear your comments and hope you have a great day! Blessings, Sherry

Summer Reading Love

Ever since my mother took me to get my first library card at age 6, I have been a voracious reader. Over the years my tastes have run to horror, forensic type books and murder mysteries. They hook me and I try to figure out the clues to figure out the "who done it"! One of my favorite authors is Nora Roberts, this series is under her pen name J.D. Robb. Lieutenant Eve Dallas and her husband Roarke suck me in and I have been known to finish one of the books in a couple of hours! It is set in the future with technologically advanced machines. She is an officer with the New York police department and has quite her own horrific history that is the basis of her ability to solve murders. I have read the entire series and am like a little kid at Christmas waiting for the newest offering.

If you like murder mysteries with a side of really awesome romance as well a ride by the seat of your pants, this is the series for you! Great summer reading and a guilty pleasure for sure :).

What are you reading this summer? Have a great week and don't forget to relax and read a good book! Sherry

You get what you pay for

Over the last year I have had some awful haircuts. I am not just talking a little bit awful but "I cried all the way home" haircuts. I have a hard time paying a lot for this service but found when you go cheap you get cheap! You definitely get what you pay for!

So ladies I went to my local Ulta and spent some time talking to the hairstylist and let her know that I need help to get the last horrible "mullet" style cut fixed. She was awesome! Not only did she look at my hair, she asked questions, made suggestions and worked with me on the idea and outcome. I felt comfortable with her and decided to take the plunge. I am so happy that I did.

You can see the top picture (before) and that is after letting it grow out for 4 months. When you have to put multiple products in your hair to get it somewhat ok, that is not good. The after picture was taken minutes after she finished and I was ecstatic! It will be quick and easy for summer and she shaped and re-layered it to work. I took the picture because I wanted to show my husband because he has really good taste and lets me know immediately if he likes it. He texted back he loved it. That, along with how I feel makes it totally worth every penny.

Trust me when I say that you need to explain your hsircut and have the stylist listen. Overall, I am super happy with it as well as having the hubby love it. Have you had a terrible haircut? Do you agree that you get what you pay for? Lesson learned!!! Our hair has a lot to do with our self esteem, thus I will pay the money to have it done right from now on :).

Thanks for stopping by the blog and have a great weekend! Sherry

DuWop Private Collection Minis

From bottom:
Pink
Coral
Pearl
Nude
Plum
Red

The DuWop Private collection are lippies that are self adjusting to your own color. I have had the Red for some years now and know that it looks absolutely beautiful on my lips. I had read about these on a blog (sorry can't remember which one) and knew I had to have them! The Pearl is meant to be a topcoat and gives the other colors a glow that makes the colors work better. Each color makes my lips absolutely gorgeous and works with multiple makeup looks. I love to carry the color of choice in my pocket when I go to work. Each of them work with my lipcolor really well.

They go on smoothly, are fragrance free for the most part and have a wonderful lasting power, which is a big deal for me. I love that they are small and compact and are fun to reapply during the day. They are self adjusting to match your skintone and for me it is very true. Yeppers I am a lippie addict and love getting compliments when I wear these. DuWop states that these are the 5 bestselling shades and when I went on the DuWop site I could see that indeed they are popular shades. Overall, I am in awe of the lippies! I found that they also layer with other colors really well.

They are relatively inexpensive at $33 and at $19 a lippie, it's a great value. Have you tried any DuWop products? Would you try these if you haven't? Do tell! I think if you are a lippie lover like me that you would want to get these in
your stash ASAP! Let me know what you think :) Blessings, Sherry

Scrapbooking for Paper lovers

Flow Book for Paper Lovers

I have always loved to journal and scrapbook as well as make jewelry. Browsing through Barnes and Noble I came upon this incredible book full of tags, scrapbook paper, wrapping, miniature envelopes, stickers, postcards, coloring pictures and more. I was in awe and my brain went nuts with thinking of all the crafts and ideas that I could do with this menagerie of paper. It was $24.99 but worth every penny and more!

For you ladies that love DIY and crafts, I wanted to pass this on and hope you are able to get hold of this before it sells out. I found it by the magazines and I am sure it is in the craft/scrapbooking area as well. It is a Dutch company and is translated into English. There are some incredible and beautiful paper inside. I was surprised as it is chock full of different things to do and use. I am currently using a few of the paperwork and can't wait to do even more.

So ladies, if you are like me and love to scrapbook, journal and make unique artistic presents, then this book is not only a bargain, it is a must have! Run to your local Barnes and Noble and grab yours today :). Blessings, Sherry

Pixi H2O SkinTint Face Gel

Nude and Warm

I have heard the buzz on the internet as well as the newsletter from Pixi in my inbox about this product. Summertime is when I look for lighter coverage that still is able to have the feeling of fresh skin. Reading the reviews and swatching this in Target, I decided to purchase both the Nude and Warm tints. The website states that this is "cooling, hydrating and is a sheer water based gel." It also says to apply as you would a moisturizer.

It comes in a tube with a great pump style dispenser. The Skintint itself feels smooth and applies easily. It doesn't cover all the spots that I have however a dab of concealer takes care of that readily. It feels sheer and cool and blends like a dream. It has a faint scent that doesn't aggravate my migraines and the wear time with t-zone powder lasted me 6 hours. I have always liked the Pixi line of products and this is no exception! Pixi has upped their makeup game and most Target's carry most all the products. For those that aren't really keen on dewy looking skin this may not work for you, however it does matte down with powder. Overall I am very pleased with this and on days that I don't have a lot of time, this is my go to.

Pixi also has natural ingredients and skincare ingredients within their products and to me that is a bonus! Have you tried the new Pixi H2O Skintints? What are your thoughts? Do tell! Blessings, Sherry

Influenster (*sponsered) Freeman Bare Foot products

Freeman Bare Foot Exfoliating Polish

I received a coupon from Influenster to try the new Freeman line of foot products from my local WalMart. There are two products: the Moisturizing Massage Cream and the Exfoliating Polish. As I have more foot creams than I can shake a stick at I thought that the exfoliating polish would be what I would use the most. Also the hubby loves to exfoliate his feet and so that was a double win :)!

Now the exfoliating polish also says that you can use this for the full body, it has Mica, Apricot Oil and Vitamin E. The granules are micro and buff the skin without damage. The Mica "dusts" skin in a delicate shimmer for a "glow". Count me in! The line states that the product has ingredients "made from the sea".

I used it the first night as summertime is all about sandals and flip flops and believe me when I say that it felt really good to use. It left my feet, especially my heels soft and supple with a soft shimmer. The fragrance is a bit perfumey but as its on my feet I didn't get overwhelmed with the fragrance. It comes out a pearly soft blue color and true to it's word the granules are fine and doesn't feel damaging to the feet. My husband used it as well and told me that this is a product that he would have me repurchase.

I as very grateful to try this product and have already told several family members about it. Ladies, run to your WalMart and grab a tube of this (it's $5 bucks!) and try this out, I believe that you will be pleased with the results. Let me know your thoughts on this product and get those feet in shape for the summer! Blessings, Sherry

Clinique Cheek/Blush Pop in Peach Pop

I love blush, I have many many blushes and don't feel bad about it at all :). I especially love peach colored blushes as I am naturally red faced for the most part. Peach just makes me smile and reminds me of summer and the beach! I have heard lots of great things about the Clinique blush pops and after talking to the manager of the counter, Lauren, (who was marvelous in the customer service area) explained to me that the blushes are liquid at first then dried in terracotta pots to a creamy powder finish. They are definitely creamy powder and feel absolutely beautiful on the skin. The swatch on my hand is heavy as it takes quite a bit to show up.

The blush itself is small but I believe this little pot will last a long time. The daisy imprint is so cute and doesn't go away easily. It seems exorbitant at $21 but the finish and the cuteness didn't make me feel bad about purchasing this blush! Clinique is a brand that I have used for many years and I also got a generous sample of the Clinique Moisture Surge CC cream to try as well.

The summer tote bag with goodies was a GWP at $39.50 and of course I couldn't pass that up ladies! There are 2 to pick from: the golden colored eyeshadows and lippie and the lilac colored eyeshadows and lippie. Because I am seriously addicted to purple anything, I chose that one :). It includes: Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief moisturizer, Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating Cream, All About Shadow Quad in Lilac and the High Impact Mascara. I am excited to use each of these products. I love the Moisture Surge Extended Relief because it is a gel like moisturizer and is perfect for summer as it is light and sinks in rapidly. I have never heard of the Sparkle Skin Body Exfoliating cream and with more skin showing this time of year, this product will be well used.

I am excited to add the Blush Pop into rotation and the GWP items will be well used as well! Do you like Clinique products? What have you tried that makes you happy with the line? Do tell! Sherry

Loreal Advanced Suncare Silky BB Face Lotion Sunscreen SPF 50

Ok ladies that is a mouthful of a name! I have heard about this BB tinted sunscreen, good and bad but had to try it out myself. I love tinted sunscreens, so snatched this up at CVS on sale. A lot of bloggers have said that it is very orange on their skin so I was a little leery. However, for me it was just right. It is runny after you shake it well as you can see from the swatch, yet blends well for me. It sets matte and makes a great base for further foundation and makeup. I am very into sunscreen for my face as I have damaged my face from my younger years. This makes me feel good that I am doing something good for the overall health of my face.

We all know that sunscreen is a must even when we are just running to the corner store and Texas has some serious sun and heat. I will definitely be using this more and give you an update as to whether it breaks me out. Loreal has made some awesome sunscreens in their time and this is no exception.

Ladies have you used this yet? Are you making sure that you wear sunscreen daily? Would love for you to share your thoughts! Sherry

IT Cosmetics CC+ Radiance Ombre Bronzer

It's no secret that I love my bronzers. Living in Texas I can get away with the bronzed look all the time! IT Cosmetics happens to be one of my favorite brands and there is very few products from them that I don't own. When I heard about this one I had to have it. Primarily because it has the illuminator/highlighter part of the ombre compact.

The compact is huge ladies. It fits the palm of my hand and has a plastic top that clicks firmly without flying open. It looks beautiful in the compact and has plenty of area to use either the bronzer part or highlighter part or you can just swirl the 2 together and get a glowy look that makes you look lit from within. I have actually been reaching for this more than my other tried and true because it is so versatile. I am seriously a neophyte with illuminators and this makes it so easy.

IT Cosmetics rock! Grab this ombre bronzer ladies, you won't be disappointed! Tell me your thoughts if you have already tried this and if you really want to check it out! Would love to hear your thoughts. Sherry

Exfoliating Cleanser Picks

Strivectin SD Instant Retexturizing Scrub
Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser
American Beauty Soft Glow Gentle Face Polisher

The importance of sloughing off dead skin cells and promoting cell turnover has never been more necessary then in my 40's. I have found that when I use exfoliants up to 3 times a week, my skin is happier and healther. My makeup goes on easier and my skin looks smoother longer. I have also found that I don't need to go overboard like I used to when I was younger and scrub my face too harshly. Many scrubs have passed through my hands to use and one that I used for YEARS was way too harsh and had bits that were actually dangerous to the health of my skin!

The Strivectin SD Instant Retuexturizing Scrub stays in my shower and works wonders when I need a quick and easy polish before I leave the house. It has a slight menthol tingle and smell to it, the scrub part is gentle and rounded and effective without being harsh on my skin. Strivectin products are geared toward overall anti-aging and retinol based, scientifically and dermatologically tested. I use several Strivectin products in my daily routine.

The Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser uses fruit acids and chemical properties to exfoliate and is very gentle and can be used nightly. It doesn't irritate my skin and over time I see the benefits of using the naturally occurring acids in my skincare. It has no unpleasant fragrance and soothes as well as exfoliates.

The American Beauty Soft Glow Gentle Face Polisher is grittier and uses physical properties to exfoliate. I can use this one up to 3 times a week without irritation to my skin. It has a slight perfumey fragrance that dissipates quickly. I have to be careful not to press too hard with this one as I can easily overdo the scrub. It is effective and inexpensive.

I like to alternate between chemical/fruit acid and physical exfoliants as they both are able to remove dead skin cells and give my face a break from scrubbing too much! What are your thoughts on exfoliants? Do you have any favorites to share? Do tell! Sherry

I jumped on the MAC Alluring Acquatic bandwagon

MAC lippie in Goddess of the Sea- a sheer medium purple creemsheen
MAC eyeshadow in Sea Worship- a golden light bronze
MAC eyeshadow in Silver Sun- a medium silver
MAC eyeshadow in Legendary Lure- a dark silver

Oh ladies, the packaging alone with it's metallic turquoise and raised "rain drop" feel is well worth the purchase. But it's the products themselves that won me over! Each and every one of these makes me so excited to use these immediately!!!! I was fortunate to snag these as they were the LAST ones at my MAC counter at Dillards. The girl at the counter was helpful and happy that she was able to get these for me. I hem and hawed about spending the money for these and almost missed out waiting so long. But here they are and boy am I gonna have fun with each item.

The Goddess of the Sea lippie was right up my alley as I love my darker and definitely different colors, purple is something I have worn for most of my life and this one comes out kinda plummy instead of in your face purple! Each of the eyeshadows are buttery, has great pigmentation, and the shimmer is not over the top for over 40 eyes. The purple one , I was told sold out in less than an hour. That is the one I wanted the most! However, these three are perfect for a great eye look and I can't wait to play around with them to come up with great eye looks.

MAC Alluring Acquatic collection is beautiful and is the first collection that spoke to me and I forked over the money :). I am slowly but surely getting a MAC product list in my possession and so happy for it. As most of you know this year was the first time I delved into MAC. I am super happy I did.

Have you gotten your mitts on the MAC Alluring Acquatic collection? What are your thoughts? DO tell! Sherry

Bare Minerals Skin Rev'r Upper

This lightweight vitamin infused mineral lotion works really well to refresh your complexion and prepare the skin for application of foundation. It has glycolic acid and salicylic acid in it that helps to aid with cell turnover. It is not a moisturizer but definitely sets the stage for other skincare to work better. It is basically like vitamins for your skin and I love it!

Bare Minerals has definitely upped their skincare game and this is one of the products that I love and use daily. Other people have told me that it works well as a primer. Have you tried this product? What are your thoughts? Do tell! Sherry

Lush Roots Hair conditioner for fine hair

I was fortunate to win a Lush hair product from the lovely Grace from girlvsshifts.com and was excited to try my first Lush product. I was able to pick the Lush hair product and after research the Lush Roots made for fine thin hair was the one I picked. I was excited to receive it and try it out. It was menthol smelling as that is the main ingredient along with olive oil to strengthen hair. It says to massage from roots down and leave in until you rinse it out and shampoo as normal. I found that the menthol didn't bother me and after using it, it didn't weigh my hair down and leave it flat. I noticed that my hair was shinier and healthier looking immediately. It also gave a beautiful volume that I wasn't expecting! I have tried many fine thin hair products and this one hands down was up in the top 5.

Overall I will used this until the generous tub is gone. Especially during the summer time when my hair gets frizzy and flat looking. Seriously not a good look! All in all I am pleased with my first Lush product and will be perusing the Lush website for more items to try!

Thank you again Grace for the giveaway! Have you ladies used the Lush line? What are your thoughts? Do tell! Sherry

Jewelry love

I have an incredibly sweet husband. He has picked out jewelry for me over the years that amazes me because his taste is impeccable! He knows I love silver and unique pieces as well. When we were in Dillards as I was shopping in the cosmetic area, he wandered over to the jewelry and picked this up. It was something he liked a lot and he had to get it for me! He has been known to purchase jewelry and try to hide the fact when I have wandered over to see what he is interested in. Lots of salesladies have helped him "hide" the purchases and help to surprise me. This was no exception and I love it! I have a very tiny wrist and was surprised that this fit perfectly. It is on trend, unique and even better it is hammered silver which lends a really cool vibe.

Have you been surprised with baubles from your significant other? What was your best surprise? Do tell!!! Sherry

The cutest travel medication holder I have ever seen!

First of all I have no earthly idea who made this medication holder. I was taking care of my aunt in the hospital and was browsing the gift shop and came upon a display with several options of these. When I travel I love to have a organized pill holder instead of them all thrown together and in a ziploc bag! So I grabbed this one as it had purple in it (my favorite color) and fleur de lis, which I am infatuated with (I have a tattoo with a fleur de lis).

Having your medications organized and separated is necessary and safe. Yes I am getting all nursey on you, but so many medications look alike and can be dangerous if you take too many of them at once. I like knowing that if I grab Monday's meds that they are Monday's meds and I don't worry that they are not correct. Of course I always look at my medications prior to taking them but it sure gives peace of mind when they are together and organized!

Ok off the soap box I come, just thought I would throw that in along with the really cute pill holder/organizer! You just never know what you will find in a hospital gift shop :). Do you keep your meds in an organizer? Do tell! Sherry

Drug VS Department Store

Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil
Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil

Ladies, oils have a huge place in our skincare these days and there are literally hundreds to choose from. There are oils to be used for moisturizing, calming, treating, soothing and many more uses available. Then there are the cleansing oils. These have been popping up everywhere and can run the gamut in price from a couple of bucks to exhorbitant! I have had the pleasure of being able to get my hands on several and today wanted to show you these two oils.

When I wear my tinted sunscreen I really need to use something to cut through the product and I have found that oils do that for me. The 2 I have chosen are Garnier Nourishing Cleansing Oil which runs $6.50 at Ulta and Bobbi Brown Soothing Cleansing Oil which I have in the travel size which is $15. The Garnier Oil is thicker in viscosity, no fragrance to speak of and cuts through any and all product on my face. It doesn't irritate my eyes when I use it to take off eye makeup/mascara. It gets milky with a bit of water after you apply to dry face first. I am impressed with this cleansing oil and haven't broken out using it either. The Bobbi Brown Oil is thinner in viscosity, negligible fragrance and works well to cut through eye makeup/mascara without irritating my eyes and cuts most product from my face. I did notice that it is not as effective on the tinted sunscreen removal as the Garnier. It is a nice oil and gentle/soothing as the name suggests.

Each of the oils worked to take off product, the Garnier the clear winner in cutting the more "adhesive" of products. I truly enjoyed using each of them and yet from a cost and effectiveness perspective I would repurchase the Garnier!

Have you used any cleansing oils? What are your thoughts? Do you have any to recommend? Do tell!!!! Sherry

Jewelry is the icing on the makeup cake

I love to create jewelry and it is so relaxing and enjoyable. When I get ready and put my makeup on and make sure it feels good to look good for the day, the jewelry I wear is the cherry on top! Today I was a bit stressed and my creative brain was hoppin' so I sat down and made these earrings. Not only are they really pretty, they are the touch that makes me unique and shows my style. It's interesting that we make sure that our makeup stays put, wear a pop of color and even make ourselves have a unique and beautiful look, and we dress to impress as well. My jewelry expresses how I am feeling, completes an outfit and just gives that extra oomph to our day.

I love getting compliments on a one of a kind necklace, a pair of earrings or my crazy rings! It gives someone a glimpse of my personality. Makeup helps us feel good about ourselves, covers things we want to hide and makes us look alive. Each person wears makeup for different reasons and the same goes for jewelry.

Yeppers this is a different kinda post but it just came to me that we do so many different things to present ourselves to the world and makeup, hairstyles, outfits, jewelry do that. Do you have certain jewelry that you wear that just makes you feel good? What is your favorite jewelry to wear? Do tell!!! Enjoy the day and wear that piece of art that you save for special occasions because ladies today is a special occasion!!!

Migraine Awareness Month

I have had migraines since I was 5 years old and "officially" diagnosed at 17. I have tried multiple preventive and abortive meds under the sun and alternative methods as well. I know every trigger and do my best to prevent myself from getting a migraine every day. There are more days a month I have a migraine than not and it can sometimes be difficult to even function for daily living. It steals time from your family and friends and jobs. It eats up holidays, dinners, nights out etc.

Many people have the misguided notion that people with migraines are "faking it" or drug seeking and that makes me mad and sad. It also is a disease you can't "see" unless someone is crying or throwing up. I wouldn't wish a migraine on my worst enemy. There are times when a migraine hits and I seriously don't think I can handle it, and yet somehow I do. I am sure that there are people in your life if not yourself that suffer from migraines. You know the helpless, hopeless feeling associated with this disease. I know many headache clinics and neurologists that are still researching migraine prevention and medications to help those of us who suffer.

If you know someone with migraines, treat them with kindness and sympathy as you would someone with cancer. No I am not comparing cancer to migraines but I am saying that they are diseases that affect many people. I am glad there is a migraine awareness month and hope against all hope there will be a cure in my lifetime. There are many excellent resources on the internet for more information.

Thank you for reading this post and allowing me to share a piece of my life with you. This post was not meant to elicit sympathy but to enlighten and educate about this serious and painful disease. If you have a story or thought to share, please do. Blessings, Sherry
