Cover Girl Eyes

The Super Sizer mascara in Very Black
Intense Me liquid liner in Intense Black

I was graciously sent these by Cover Girl to check out and have to remind all that the opinions are my own! Lately with the new obsession with liquid liners I was happy to try this out. I don't wear as much black unless I am going out and am careful that my under eye dark circles don't get worse because of liner! This liner has a small brush to apply, is very inky black and takes quite a while to dry. It is very pretty and yet smudges very easily. I am careful when I apply this and try to "dot" the product in my lash line for a pretty look.

The mascara proclaims that it will volumize your lashes 400% corner to corner and comes with a small skinny wand that you are supposed to "twirl" as you apply. I can tell you that this mascara makes the lash line look awesome and separates the lashes well because of the skinny wand. I am blessed with long lashes but they are thinning the older I get. This mascara did give my lashes a good "oomph" but not 400%!

All in all I like these 2 new products and will repurchase the mascara and if there are other colors of the liner I will try those as well.

Have ya'll tried these? What do you think? Do tell!

Blogging Education

Artful Blogging Magazine by Somerset Studio
Blogging for Creatives by Robin Houghton
Blogging for Dummies

Reading is a passion for me. I read several books a week and enjoy reading books that also educate me. My blog is over a year old now and yet I still feel like a newbie so I read anything I can get my hands on. I also read blogs that continue to give me tips and tricks as they are practical and blogger approved! On my Nook I have Blog Inc, by Grace Bonney, Joy Deangdeelert and Meg Mateo Ilasco. I also have purchased the Blogosphere magazines that are UK based and are lovely!

All in all, I love learning and reading and the resources have been welcome to help me with blogging. I don't think I will ever truly "get it" but I am having fun trying.

What are some blogging books you like? Do you have any suggestions for more books for me to read? Thanks to all the bloggers out there that share their blogging tips and tricks as it tremendously helps those of us still learning how to do it!

St. Tropez In Shower Tanning Lotion

So I gave in and purchased this at Ulta for $25. I have literally tried a LOT of tanning lotions and either turned jaundiced orange, got patchy as hell or it just looked like I had a skin disease! So I am holding out hope that this will be the bomb! I showered, then spread it in circular motions as directed, was careful around knees, ankles and elbows and then washed my hands. You are supposed to wait 3 minutes and without a clock in the bathroom, I counted out 3 minutes after putting in hair product that needed to wait as well.

This lotion doesn't have a yucky (I know technical word that) smell and rinsed off well and felt quite moisturizing on my freshly shaved legs without burning. After about 6 hours I could tell there was a small amount of glow and color, not in your face but subtle. So I will watch and wait and follow up with ya'll after a couple of days and let you know if it is a winner or dud for me.

Have ya'll tried this? What was your experience? Do tell!!

Blessings, Sherry

UPDATE: Ladies I am impressed with this tanning lotion! No it doesn't have a dark tan but it's perfect for that glow that doesn't turn orange or weird. AND it is easy and the next morning I noticed just the right amount of tan. I had only 2 spots on my palms where I didn't wash well but overall AWESOME! Even my hubby commented that my legs looked nicely tanned, high praise indeed. Love it and will repurchase when it runs out :)

Dry Oil Sprays

Shea Moisture Dry Oil Mist in Superfruit Complex $8
Ahava Dry Oil mist in Cactus and Pink Pepper $45

I am terrible at moisturizing my body and when dry oil sprays hit the market I knew it was just what I needed. These 2 were purchased at my local Ulta and after spraying about 10! on my arms and legs in the store these really stood out for me.

I am particulurly sensitive to odors and yet love scents that are different and compel me. These dry oils did it! The Shea Moisture is inexpensive yet very easy and comfortable to use. I have this in my shower so I can remember to spray myself down while still wet before I dry off. The Ahava is quite expensive but lighter on the oil and beautiful to use and smells divine! I believe that these will become a good habit and I may check out more as I research.

Do you use dry oil sprays? Do tell your experiences and let me know if you have a favorite that I should try!

Flower Transforming Touch powder to creme blush

Color: A-coral-ble

This product is quite the mouthful! As most of you know, Drew Barrymore jumped into the cosmetics industry with her brand Flower, which can be purchased at your local Wal-Mart as well as online. I have several odds and ends from her line and love the quality, pigmentation and wear. This new blush caught my eye from an ad and I couldn't wait to get my hands on the product. First it is all kinds of sciencey in that when you open this and touch it, it feels like powder which quickly turns into a soft cream when applied. I tried to apply with my fingers and found that the product quickly sticks to my fingers and not so much to my face! So I grabbed my trusty Elf $2 stipple brush and it applied much better. It is easy to build up and when worked with quickly it sets and wears for about 4 hours.

The colors look like they would be a bit more bright on as they are in the pot; however, these colors need to be built up for a very pretty blush! I have been favoring corals and peaches this summer, it just brightens my face. This one is a subtle coral with a slight bit of shimmer glow. They retail for $12-13 depending on where you find them and for the money I think they are well worth it.

Such a cool idea made into a beautiful blush and with each of Drew Barrymores Flower products, you can tell she puts her heart into each one. Have you tried any Flower products? Please share your thoughts! Thanks for stopping by the blog.

Easy peasy summer eye with Bobbi Brown

Bobbi Brown Long Wear Cream Shadow Stick
Swatches from top:
Smokey Topaz
Pink Sparkle
Espresso Bean

Although I received these last Christmas, they have been absolutely awesome as a quick eye look for a summer day. I have been embracing cream shadows for most of the year. They are quick easy, blendable and long lasting, all the things that are necessary for the hot dog days of summer! There is just the right amount of sparkle without the glitter crepe lid look that is just not pretty. I have read the "rules" (whatever) about how "older" women shouldn't wear sparkly or shimmery shadows. However, ladies Bobbi Brown shows that yes you can have subtle shimmer which actually helps to wake up the eyes. I put Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion on my lids and then scribble away with the shadow sticks and viola' easy peasy eyes and out the door.

I also have Laura Mercier caviar sticks, Maybelline Tattoo cream shadows and have noticed that I want to add these to my pared down summer routine because they are just that easy to apply and wear.

What are your favorite cream shadows? Any I should try? Leave a message below and thanks for stopping by the blog.

Lip Plumpers and Primers

Pixi Lip Lift Max
Stila Lush Lips water plumping primer

I make no bones about my age or the state of my face and the aging that is happening. Lotta hours worrying over stuff I can't change and flipped that to time spent on enhancing and loving what I do have! I smoked for years and ladies those wrinkles you get around your mouth alone from smoking can make you age very fast. Now I can't reverse em unless I get something injected, filled or pulled and I just don't have the time or money for that. Enter the beautiful lip plumper and primer products that give the appearance of less lines and wrinkles in the lip areas. These are 2 of the ones that I have (among others) and the Pixi was obtained first from Target. It is clear, sheer, a bit sticky and doesn't have that tingle but definitely showed some plumpness of my lips after about 5 minutes. It smoothed the lip wrinkles and helped my lippie to go on easily and smoothly. It doesn't last very long though and had to reapply several times to continue the effects.

Stila on the other hand, I purchased at Ulta and was surprised at how milky and thick it was when I applied. But here is the secret, apply it first after moisture and do your face. You will notice that by the time you have finished and are heading to do your lips, it actually is frickin awesome. My lips were smooth, plump and this product helped my lippie to last. Score!

SO ladies, what product do you recommend that I try? Have you tried either of these? And yes, I have been quit smoking a year now and am NOT making new lines, except to smile a LOT!

CC Cream Discovery

L'Occitane Pivoine Sublime CC Skin Tone Perfecting Cream in medium

Many of you have seen my posts about my love for CC creams. I have tried and worn about 20, no joke! My favorite at this time still has to be the IT Cosmetics CC but that doesn't stop me from trying others. Now I was browsing E-bay one night a couple of weeks ago and saw this listed. I researched the product on the L'Occitane website and saw that it was new and I could get it cheaper on E-bay. I have several products from L'Occitane, hand creams, skincare items and makeup items. I have loved them all.

So I bought this and received it and immediately got down to checking how I would like it on my face. The tube is economical, sanitary and with its needle nose opening allows you to get product out efficiently and just the right amount. It comes out as you can see on the swatch, white. I have used complexion products that "change" to fit your skin and this did just that. Some of these products though have turned orange or gray or yuck. This one matched my summer face perfectly!

It has a very prominent floral scent. and with my lifelong chronic migraine illness that was something I worried about. Fortunately it dissipates quickly and all I had to show was a beautiful and radiant face. It is light to medium coverage, covering redness, age spots and dryness well. A little concealer on top and it was beautiful. It was perfect for a hot summer day and although "radiant" from its Peony flower ingredient it wasn't greasy looking.

I wore it for a regular day not a work day and it lasted all 9 hours of commitments and errands. It did start to fade over my nose and mouth areas, however I have had some allergy sniffles and wiping my nose regularly. All in all I am pleased with this CC cream and will continue to wear it this summer. It only has SPF 20 so I had SPF 50 underneath. Never to cautious these days with hotter and hotter summers and sunlight exposure at a maximum wherever you go outside.

What is your favorite summer CC or base? Do tell!

Lipstick Queen Summer lippies

Top swatch and tube Stoked
Bot swatch and tube Jungle Queen

I am an admitted lippie addict and love to wear all colors and styles. Maybe not matte as it tends to be too dry for my aging lips! Lipstick Queen is without a doubt my favorite lippie brand ever since Ulta started carrying them and I also love their website. I have obtained quite a few and wear them all the time. These 2 specifically get taken out of lippie storage and returned to their rightful place in my purse when the weather gets brighter and hotter. Here in Texas that is around May.

Stoked is a sheer comfortable peachy orange that is perfect when I want a little color and lots of shine. Jungle Queen is more opaque and the color is vibrant and cheerful. I may start the day with Stoked and apply Jungle Queen after lunch. Although I have to be very careful with the orange colors as they tend to make old yellow smoker teeth not the greatest color! I have been on a beautiful whitening regiment for my teeth with my dentist and products that are over the counter so I can be a little more comfortable in these colors.

Do you have lippies that are reserved for summer? What are some of your favs? Do you love Lipstick Queen? Do tell!

Seriously Summer Must Have

Dove Dry Spray 48 hour Antipersperant
(green) cool essentials
(blue) nourishing beauty

Nobody wants to talk about sweat, odor or those "personal" embarrassing moments. Ladies, not only am I going to talk about it, I am going to rave a bit about this new "dry" spray that has hit the American publics awareness. Sure, I saw the Dove commercials, who adores the Dove campaign peeps that really get their message out about beauty amiright!!!! On to the pharmacy to pick up meds and I saw these in a endcap and hmmmm yeah had to have them. Now ladies, I am a 48 year old woman in the throes (seriously I used throes for menopause, dear God throes is passion NOT menopause) of hot flashing madness that is called menopause. I HAVE to have a hardcore antiperspirant and generally speaking I will get a roll on or cream deodorant and definitely skeptical about a spray. In my experience, sprays never lasted for me half a day much less all day!

Home again and I shook shook shook like they say and sprayed this incredibly smelling product onto my underarms and it dried super fast and yet I wondered. SO many hours later when I was in the middle of so many projects, I sniffed my underarms and was surprised that a) they smelled great b) they were dry. Wow and so the love affair and the glowing review followed. Its HOT here in Texas and these frickin work!

Summer staple indeed! Have you tried these? What do you think, yea or nay? Thanks for stopping by!

Summer face savers

Ya'll know here in Texas at the moment it is 98 degrees with a 75% humidity. Now I have lived in Texas for many years and there is nothing that I can do about the heat. Add to the heatwave my ever frickin hot flashes and there may be fire! I have a love affair with face mists that when refrigerated are just the momentary pause that puts said fires out.

Evian of course was an Ulta purchase as they had the travel duo pack and fits nicely into my handbag. The Vichy is currently residing in my refrigerator and makes the morning wake up ever so pleasant. Urban Decay B6 face mist works to perk up my face before and after makeup and at bedtime. This stuff just soothes! Caudalie Eau de Beaute is a refreshing, amazing smelling and energizing face pick me up anytime, amywhere, LOVE this stuff! The Botanics Rose Face mist was a purchase from Target and when the allergy and sinus monster is upon me, this seems to soothe and calm down inflammation.

There are lots of face mists and sprays out there and personal preference and usage is key to making them work for you. It feels a bit decadent when I whip out my favorite bottle out of my handbag and boost my flagging (and hot) face. Do you like face mists? What are your favorites? Any I should try? Let me know in the comments and thanks for stopping by the blog.
